Arthrosamid® is an advanced injectable hydrogel designed to provide sustained pain relief for people with knee osteoarthritis. Unlike traditional injections that wear off after weeks or months, Arthrosamid integrates into the knee joint lining, helping to cushion the joint and reduce inflammation over a much longer period.
This treatment is particularly suitable for patients who wish to delay or avoid knee replacement surgery, or for those who have not achieved lasting benefit from steroid or hyaluronic acid injections.
Potential benefits include:
Long-lasting reduction in knee pain
Improved mobility and confidence when walking
Minimally invasive, day-case treatment
No general anaesthetic required
Arthrosamid injections are carefully selected following specialist assessment to ensure they are appropriate for your level of arthritis and symptoms.
A keyhole procedure used to diagnose and treat a range of knee problems such as meniscal tears, cartilage damage and loose bodies. It uses small incisions and a camera, allowing for faster recovery and minimal disruption to surrounding tissue.
When arthritis affects only one part of the knee, a partial knee replacement can relieve pain while preserving healthy bone and ligaments. This often results in a more natural-feeling knee and quicker rehabilitation than total replacement.
Robotic-assisted technology helps plan and perform knee replacement surgery with exceptional accuracy. This allows for personalised alignment, improved implant positioning and potentially faster recovery.
Revision surgery is complex and requires specialist expertise. Mr El-Tawil has extensive experience managing worn, loose or infected knee replacements, restoring stability, comfort and function.
These procedures aim to delay or avoid knee replacement by addressing the underlying cause of pain, such as alignment issues or cartilage damage. Ideal for younger or active patients.
Osteotomy redistributes load within the knee joint, reducing pain and slowing the progression of arthritis. It can be an excellent option for active patients with early arthritis.
Reconstruction of injured knee ligaments — including the ACL and PCL — helps restore stability, control and confidence in the joint. These procedures are particularly important for active individuals or those whose knee gives way during daily activities.
Where possible, damaged meniscus or cartilage is repaired rather than removed, helping protect the knee from early arthritis and maintaining long-term joint health.
Specialist procedures address kneecap maltracking, instability or arthritis, improving pain, alignment and function with a personalised surgical approach.
Children’s knees require a careful, growth-aware approach. Mr El-Tawil treats paediatric fractures, sports injuries and developmental knee conditions with tailored expertise.
Tendon injuries around the knee, such as patellar or quadriceps tendon ruptures, can significantly impair movement. Timely surgical repair helps restore strength, mobility and confidence, supported by a structured rehabilitation programme.
When surgery is required, minimally invasive techniques are used wherever appropriate. These procedures typically allow for:
For patients with significant arthritis or joint damage, knee replacement surgery can be highly effective in relieving pain and restoring mobility.
